Engage

Goal:  Show your willingness to participate with staff and leadership. Demonstrate current capacity of your constituent engagement.

Commitment: About 1-2 hours.

Step 1:  Secure internal engagement from your organization

  • Get people excited and share the opportunities for participation with your decision makers
  • Identify internal champions and project managers – Who in the organization will be participating and how much time will they commit? It is suggested at least two person-hours per week be allocated to the project.
  • Demonstrate buy-in from the organizational leadership and a desire to participate with A4G.

Step 2: Engage your constituents:

Perform an audience analysis or summarize your existing observations on how your constituents are using internet-enabled tools. The purpose of this is to; show that there is a market need, demonstrate enthusiasm and verify adoption capacity in  your community of impact. This summary will establish a benchmark for your current level of technology engagement. If you do not have a constituent survey, create one using an accessible form of technology like: a google form, a text message survey, an email newsletter request, brief phone poll, in-person survey, or if you have time, an informal focus group.

Deliverable 1:

  1. Express your interest and support for this project with a Message of Intent via email (part 1) with the name and contact info of your project manager.
  2. Provide us with a simple paragraph or two on your constituent  findings (part 2).  How do your constituents engage with web-enabled technology?
  3. Register your primary point of contact on Applicationsforgood.com.
